How We Work

Our firm specializes in helping individuals develop sound retirement strategies. If you are retired – or approaching retirement – please take the time to explore our website and the wealth of information we offer. We offer personalized, hands-on service. We educate our clients about financial concepts and products, and take the mystery out of investing, insurance, estate conservation, and preserving wealth.

We understand the many challenges of retirement today and know the biggest concern for many is outliving their money. We focus on money management, as well as other issues that are critical to your financial well being.

Financial Planning

We offer financial planning to our clients by creating a tailored strategy to help individuals and businesses pursue their financial goals.

This process typically includes assessing current financial situations, setting objectives, analyzing investments, managing budgets, minimizing taxes, and providing ongoing guidance to ensure our clients' financial well-being.

At Cohen Financial Services, we offer expertise in areas such as retirement planning, investment management, estate planning, and risk management to help clients with their financial future and make informed decisions.

If you would like to start or update your financial plan with us, the journey begins here.

Investment Management

When we provide investment management services for our clients, we start with an in-depth assessment of our client’s goals, time horizon, current and projected financial position, tax situation and risk tolerance.

After analyzing this information and determining the clients’ preferences, we will make recommendations on investment strategy, asset allocation, type of product and on particular assets to be used to implement the investment plan.

The plan is tracked using software that allows us to assess diversification by asset class, investment style, industry, and geographic area and to assess risk using various analytical tools. Regular reporting of asset returns is also used to track progress.

We provide investment services on a commission and/or fee basis.

Estate Planning

What sets Cohen Financial Services apart from others in our industry is the fact that we pay close attention to all the details concerning your estate and charitable planning. Having an effective financial plan is simply one component in achieving your estate and charitable planning goals. Consideration must also be given to conserving and managing your estate. Taxes, inflation and unanticipated expenses can severely diminish the value of your estate.

Without proper planning, the bulk of your estate may be consumed by Uncle Sam’s taxes and other unnecessary expenses, rather than passing to your family and heirs. To protect your assets, we will help you plan for retirement distributions, institute gifting programs, avoid probate, reduce estate taxes and make charitable gifts, giving you the financial health you deserve.

Once an estate plan has been designed and documents drafted, we assist in the implementation phase, including re-titling of assets. With the assistance of Cohen Financial Services and its qualified professionals, working in conjunction with your attorney and accountant, we will develop an estate plan designed to accomplish all of your intended objectives.

Employee Benefits

We offer the following employee benefit services:

Consulting on the design of an employee benefits package to help you attract and retain quality employees

Assisting you with the process of securing and evaluating health, life and disability insurance

Selecting and implementing a retirement program for your employees

Educating your employees about your retirement plan so they can make better decisions about their retirement savings

Identifying other employee benefit plans that might meet your needs, such as flexible benefit programs, group long term care, executive incentive plans and education savings plans.

Business Succession Planning

Many individuals devote all of their waking hours to growing and developing the family business. Through the years, the family business owner usually invests the majority of his or her time, energy and money in the venture.

Unfortunately, although a considerable amount of resources are devoted to the business, little attention is given to estate tax planning and business succession strategies.

In short, many times a business owner simply does not have the time and background to consider:

  • What will happen if a shareholder becomes disabled or dies?

  • How can company stock be transferred to children or grandchildren without paying gift taxes?

  • Do heirs have the training, experience or willingness to run the business?

  • What type of retirement plans should their business have?

  • Should their business have key employee life insurance?

  • How can estate taxes be reduced while still retaining control of the business?

  • What events should trigger the termination or sale of the business in the event of death or disability?

  • How can arrangements be made for the purchase of the stock of a deceased shareholder, and what is it worth?

At Cohen Financial Services, we will help you address these difficult questions.

Insurance Services

We always look at the entire financial picture with our clients. This includes a needs analysis of their life, disability income and long term care insurance.

We also audit any existing policies the client may have with another agent and carrier to determine if the insurance they currently own is still necessary or obsolete.
